Fittings are welded, socket and threaded (ASME B16.11)

Time of publication:2024-04-02

The term "forged fittings" refers to two types of pipe fittings (socket welded and threaded) used for small diameter pipes and piping systems (typically less than 4 inches in diameter for Class 3000 and less than 2 inches for Class 6000 and 9000 fittings). These fittings are made by forging and machining of solid steel and are available in various shapes such as bends, tees, junctions, joints, couplings. The ASME B16.11 standard covers socket and threaded fittings for oil and gas applications. For large diameter pipes, butt-welded fittings according to ASME B16.11 should be used.
